Chase's Birthday

Chase got a Thomas the Tank Engine themed cake this year. My first effort with a 3-d cake. I'm pretty happy with how it came out! Cream cheese pound cake with chocolate buttercream frosting covered in fondant.

He was super happy with it which is all that mattered!

I love this pic of Alexa. She wanted to sit next to her "Poppy" and she is resting her hand on him just to make sure he's near.

This is all the granddads with Chase and Howard working on putting one of Chase's gifts together. Alexa is just in the middle of it all watching videotape of herself on the camcorder.

Chase got homemade pajamas from my mom for his birthday. He loves them! At bedtime, as we were getting ready to read his nighttime story, he told me that I probably wanted to sit close to him so that I could keep warm. :-)

This is from Chase's actual birthday. We had leftover cake and spent the day celebrating our boy. Happy 4th buddy you are getting sooo big!

Wishful Thinking?

Chase wanted snow for his birthday. While he didn't get out to enjoy it yesterday, we woke up to this winter wonderland of white.
I was supposed to be heading off to one of my many doctor's appointments this morning but got as far as the end of our driveway before the van got stuck. Our roads weren't plowed and the snow was deep. I was feeling bad about getting stuck until our neighbor with 4-wheel drive had to be rescued.  We watched/rescued neighbor after neighbor with 4-wheel or all-wheel drive this morning as quite a few of them had problems.

The sun came out and the scenery got even more beautiful!

Howard's back needed a rest after all the digging and snowblowing.

Alexa refuses to go outside in the snow for the most part, so she spends her time watching her daddy and brother have fun.
All we seem to need to do is think snow around here and more gets delivered! We're expecting more over the next few days. We'll see what happens!

I'll have Chase's birthday pictures up soon!

You Know Your Husband...

You know your husband loves your kids when he uses his snowblower to create a sledding hill in the backyard for your kids!

We're enjoying these snowy days!

Dress Up

The kids got a bunch of dress-up clothes for Christmas and they've been having a ton of fun pulling things out and mixing and matching them up!

She only wears the hats for short periods of time so my window of "capture" is very brief!

I am completely in love with the headband. She is in love with the skirt; she wears it constantly.

My niece was over and of course, wanted to dress-up with the kids. She's helping Chase get into his fireman's outfit here. Too cute!

Winter days are for imagination and fun when we can't get out. So thankful the kids have this stuff to play with!
