The Grand Finale

Well, I did it! I successfully completed Wilton Cake Decorating Course 1. Here is the cake to prove it. My camera didn't pick up the true purple of the flowers but it looks really cool. You'll have to trust me. This was a yellow cake with chocolate icing and buttercream flowers. Yum!

Here's the awesome thing. Howard had my friend Lauren secretly sign me up for the next decorating class!!! The next course is Fondant and Gum Paste and I am psyched! What an awesome surprise! (Howard really IS the best!) This is another four week course but we only do two cakes so stay tuned...

Happenings

We've been a busy bunch, enjoying the sunshine and warmth ushered in by the last few days. Rather than a lengthy post I'm just putting up a bunch of pictures of the last few days. Enjoy!

Yeah, daddy's wrapped around her finger!

Fat lip from a run-in with the sliding board.

Hammin' for the camera!
Sesame Street knows what it's doing. He's never even seen more than 5 minutes of Elmo but he loves the guy! He was so excited to get Elmo jammies for the warmer weather. :)

Alexa's first time on the sliding board...didn't faze her.

Playing in the dirt...the best kind of fun!

Cake #2

Well, here is my second completed cake. This was an egg-less chocolate on chocolate cake so that Chase could eat it too. It was sooo yummy and fun to make. I am "eating" up every minute of class time. It has been so much fun to learn all the tips the instructor has to share. Doing this with Lauren has made the class double the fun!

Eat Your Cake!

This is my first foray into the world of cake decorating. My friend Lauren and I signed up for a four week crash course in decorating at Michael's. The first two weeks have been fun and informative. I am so excited to learn more and hope I can keep up! I'll post the other cakes we do. (This cake tasted really good too!)

Easter

Happy Easter a little late! Because of Chase's egg allergy we can't dye Easter eggs. I cut out a bunch of "eggs" from construction paper and we decorated them instead. Chase had so much fun. We worked on the eggs for about an hour and he was totally into it! We hung them up on our kitchen windows. Chase is so proud of them.

This is our two cuties on Easter morning.

And here we are showing off our new clothes.

We have chosen not to travel on Easter so it was a really low-key day. We had an indoor Easter egg hunt for Chase, because of the cold weather. He was amazingly good at finding the eggs. I'm so grateful that we have a reason to celebrate Easter in the first place. Thank you Lord, for coming!
